Uncle has the pics up. I was with him when the pictures were taken, and I love the design. I’d like to be able to shoot one, but the MSRP initially will be a bit steep for me. If they can get it down to 1600, I might consider it. This is a very interesting design.
Archive for the “Gun P0rn” CategoryEyeblast.tv has some pretty decent video of the Kriss Super V .45 Caliber Carbine from the floor of the exhibit hall at the NRA Annual Meeting. I was one of the first bloggers to cover the Kriss when it debuted at SHOT last year. I stopped by TDI’s booth to ask whether they had any plans for a semi-auto SBR version of the Kriss, and they indicated that they did. I will definitely go through the NFA dance to get one of those if it becomes available. Obviously, I’d prefer to have the submachine gun version of it, but thanks to Congressman William Hughes, who deserves a special place in Hell for denying me advanced weapons technology, it’s only available to the military and law enforcement. UPDATE: Robb informs me that it’s his video. I hadn’t realized that. Truth be told, I’m still getting caught up on blogs and haven’t gotten completely caught up yet. I also agree with the people who poo poo pistol caliber carbines. I own one, and I don’t see much of a reason to get another. But I wouldn’t mind a semi-auto SBR in a pistol caliber that I could shoot indoors. If all that is from this guy’s personal collection, you can consider me officially jealous. Well, it was Countertop’s Monday gun porn, but now is my Tuesday gun porn. Cool picture of a rifled barrel from the inside, along with what looks like some type of Thompson Center pistol, along with a a collection of M1 Garands. It’s original, and I like it. It would probably make Bloomberg and Paul Helmke crap their pants too. Go pay a visit over to The Gun Blobber. Very nice example of an M1903 Springfield. From the serial number, this is 1942 production. Very interesting can opener. Just remember, can openers are always loaded. I once had a Russian guy show me how to open a bottle of wine without a corkscrew if you had sufficiently decent knife to stab and twist the cork out with. You won’t keep a Russian from his drink, apparently. Over at GunPundit. A miniature black powder mortar that fires BBs. Thirdpower has a little fun at Bryan Miller’s expense. Bryan frequently uses the term “assault gun” to describe that which is illegal in The Garden State. Well, here’s what an assault gun really is. Thirdpower’s version has the howitzer replaced with a Marlin Model 60, which are considered evil assault Looks like Robb got clearance from the Mrs. to get a Ko-Tonics 6.8 Upper. I don’t think he’ll be sorry. I like mine, and think it’s a great shooter. The ammo is expensive, but if you reload, it’s affordable to shoot. Downrange TV has a review of the Ruger LCP up here complete with video. Looks like they are also aggregating gun blogs through a custom RSS reader. Cool. Gun Pundit has a nice picture up of the Barrett REC7, which is a piston driven 6.8 SPC AR. That reminds me that I really need to think about a dedicated lower for my 6.8 upper. Right now I use my Bushmaster lower if I feel like shooting 6.8. Another note is that my 6.8 is direct impingement, and the upper seems to get dirtier more quickly than the 5.56. The load difference between the two is about 4 grains of power, but I would imagine the amount of gas directed back toward the bolt carrier should be similar to 5.56, so I might just be crazy. If I’m not, I think it’s worthwhile to have a gas piston setup over DI if you can afford it. Looks like Sailorcurt has joined the CZ-82 club. I have to say, it’s the best pistol I’ve ever paid less than 250 dollars for. Mine also came with some finish wear, especially that annoying chipping on the slide from the importation stamp. I fixed that problem with some Birchwood Casey Super Black, which is basically like a magic marker, only it marks with paint instead of marker. You basically dab it on, let it dry, then polish it up with some cloth. It does tend to wear off after a while, so I’m not sure it would be useful on a grip, or something else that gets rubbed on, but it made the slide chipping a lot less noticable. Mr. Completely refinished his own grips. Looks pretty good! Looks like GA precision does some fine work. Defense Review has an article up here. Not that it matters a whole lot, because thanks to Congressman Hughes, you’ll never own one. Now that the present has been presented, I can tell you what I got her. It’s a CZ 452 Lux in .22LR. If you follow the link, you’ll notice that I wrapped it up with two NRA 200 yard targets, and used a sliced up 12 gauge shotgun shell as an appropriate bow. Here’s what it looks like: Thanks to Traction Control for tracking one down and getting it to the local FFL. I also got her a Bushnell 40mm objective scope, the Banner series, but the rings I got her are too short for it, plus it looks like the CZ has 11mm dovetails. No worries though, I’ll find the proper scope rings at some point that’ll make it all work. After looking at the rifle in person, I think a smaller scope might be better for it anyway, in which case I might swap her the Bushnell for a smaller scope and use it when I finally get around to building my accurized 10/22 project. Hopefully we’ll get to try it out sometime soon. I think it’ll shoot very nice. Bitter is more of a pistol shooter than a rifle(wo)man, so it was time to get her started. Everyone needs at least one rifle in .22LR, so I figured the 452 was as good as any to start her out with. |
