I Reject Your False Messiah!

Crap like this scares the hell out of me:
Dismiss it all you like, but I’ve heard from far too many enormously smart, wise, spiritually attuned people who’ve been intuitively blown away by Obama’s presence – not speeches, not policies, but sheer presence – to say it’s just a clever marketing ploy, a slick gambit carefully orchestrated by hotshot campaign organizers who, once Obama gets into office, will suddenly turn from perky optimists to vile soul-sucking lobbyist whores, with Obama as their suddenly evil, cackling overlord.
Here’s where it gets gooey. Many spiritually advanced people I know (not coweringly religious, mind you, but deeply spiritual) identify Obama as a Lightworker, that rare kind of attuned being who has the ability to lead us not merely to new foreign policies or health care plans or whatnot, but who can actually help usher in a new way of being on the planet, of relating and connecting and engaging with this bizarre earthly experiment. These kinds of people actually help us evolve. They are philosophers and peacemakers of a very high order, and they speak not just to reason or emotion, but to the soul.
The reverence of Ronald Reagan that you get from conservatives can get kind of old sometimes, but you will never hear something like this from a Republican or libertarian. We do not worship our politicians. We don’t want them to help us find a new way of being. We do not want them to help us evolve. Generally, we want them to leave us the hell alone to live our lives. Obama can try all he wants, he doesn’t speak to my soul. He is just a man. Repeat after me lefties: he is just a man.
I’d say thanks to Instapundit, but now I will have to spend the rest of the night trying to restore my faith in humanity.

“He is just a man”
Actually, not quite. He is just a politician. A man would have a few core beliefs that he wouldn’t compromise to get the vote.

This sounds just like the attitude people had towards Jimmy Carter before his idealism got the country into deep shit in Iran.

“…Obama…to lead us not merely to new foreign policies or health care plans or whatnot, but who can actually help usher in a new way of being on the planet, of relating and connecting and engaging with this bizarre earthly experiment.”
In other words, he’s going to turn our country into one giant cluster-fuck.

Ideas have consequences. People who put their faith in the state will deify heads of state. I am an evangelical Christian, but I would *always* vote for a Reason-style atheist over a leftist ‘Christian.’ How much better for a leader to rely on modernist logic and reason than post-modern namby pamby new-age nonsesnse mixed with bureaucracy. Obama is dangerous as hell. We should be afraid. Those of us who believe should pray for mercy.

I read the complete article.
I couldn’t help but make all kinds of connections to what I’m getting from Liberal Fascism says about Hitler and Mussolini. There seems to be a better correlation with Hitler than Mussolini though. Hitler had the orator gift. Mussolini was far more intelligent. Both were extremely well regarded by the left (and even people worldwide in general) throughout the 20’s and until the mid-30’s.
Perhaps being limited to eight years and a favorable Heller decision will limit the destruction of liberty to survivable limits.

Joe,
I don’t know how far along you are into LF, but there are a lot of comparisons that could be made to Wilson and Roosevelt as well… especially given how fond Obama seems to be of FDR.

Except I doubt our friend here would have argued Wilson was a Lightworker (google the term… crazy stuff). In fact, Wilson probably would have railed against Obama because he’s black. Wilson’s racism is one of those things history has largely swept under the rug. It’s only recently he’s starting to be revealed for the vile person he was.

I also read the article.
At first I was a little confused about it because it seemed that I heard of this same story somewhere else. Then it came to me, it sounded awful like a program I watched a few years back on the History Channel about the “Anti-Christ”.
It said you will never see him coming, well liked, well dressed, and has everyone believing he can make all of the worlds problems go away.

Here’s the e-mail I sen — I’ll let you know if he replies.
Mark,
Read your very interesting article. I wondered if you could give me an example of another historical person you would compare to Obama.
Someone who is “that rare kind of attuned being who has the ability to lead us not merely to new foreign policies or health care plans or whatnot, but who can actually help usher in a new way of being on the planet, of relating and connecting and engaging with this bizarre earthly experiment. These kinds of people actually help us evolve. They are philosophers and peacemakers of a very high order, and they speak not just to reason or emotion, but to the soul.”
Have other people lived who were somewhat like him, or is he historically unique?
Best,
Tom

Hmmm, this guy is a “light bringer”…so Obama, as a “light worker” is working with him to make sure we get the light?

How about we just call off the election and avoid finding out…or up to our ears in boiling sewage that BHO wants to inflict upon us for our own good.

You know, I generally think it’s a load of bunk, but maybe there’s something to the Book of Revelation after all.

Farrakan said, “when the messiah speaks, the youth will listen, and, Obama has captured the youth”..what ? How could a muslim even recognize the Messiah? Soon they may say he is the Imam who many like Ahmedinijad await. But I’m happy that this may be a sign of the coming of the true Messiah Jesus, who said “there is one coming after me in his own name, him you will accept”..speaking
of a false prophet , to be worshipped by the unsaved. The true One won’t come as a politician.

How can the people that see Obama as some sort of Messiah not realize just how creepy they are?
