Civics Test

Through Ricketyclick, I found this interesting civics literacy quiz. Go see how you compare to most of the college freshman and seniors today. I missed 4 questions, for an A. I missed 19, 27, 36, and 58. It’s a sixty question test. I sometimes wish you had a pass a basic civics test to vote, but there’s probably no way to do that without it getting abused.

I missed three, 31, 34 and 36. Looks like most college students do pretty lousy on it.

History was never my strong subject when they were teaching this stuff in school. Maybe I’m gonna have to buy a really good history book and teach myself about it. Anybody have any history book suggestions?

I took this a couple of weeks ago via “Liberty Zone”. I scored an 80% I believe (it was a couple of weeks ago). Not bad for a 36 YO E6 in the AF who’s only got a high school edukayshun. This is downright scary if I can outscore Harvard. I’m a veritable suuuuppperrrrr geeeeneeeuuusss, as Wyle Coyote once described himself…

Took it a few minutes ago and scored the same. And I ain’t got nothing besides a gee ee dee.

Not that I did poorly on it, but that is a crap quiz unless you care about memorizing trivia from early American history. Nothing substantial on there about the government actually works and way too much focus on memorizing dates of relatively unimportant events.
You can have a perfectly good understanding of how the government works without knowing the names of civil war battles.

Interesting quiz. I used to consider myself an history buff and a civics nut but after scoring 80% it looks like I need to study a bit more.

I took it yesterday. I got a 57 out of 60. I missed the “just war question” (#36), the one about bonds (#58), and #50 (”more localized knowledge” sounded suspiciously like “buy local” to me…).
They should also collect data about student majors and rank which majors are most civic-minded.

I took it yesterday; got it from “The Smallest Minority” blog. I got a 56/60. I can’t remember exactly the ones I missed.
I’m a Computer Science/Multimedia major still working on my bachelor’s degree, but I also have a deep interest in history.
