Rampant drug abuse and violent crime in substantial portions of urban areas? There is nothing civilized about drug dealers, killers, rapists and muggers. As long as they exist, we will only have a civilized society in certain places at certain times. And none of those will be immune to the intrusion of evil if it chooses to come knocking. “A civilized society…”

We are? Third-graders planning to kill their teacher? Birth control pills for 11 years olds because they cannot rise above the level of rutting animals? MTV entertainment? Rampant drug abuse and violent crime in substantial portions of urban areas?

There is nothing civilized about drug dealers, killers, rapists and muggers. As long as they exist, we will only have a civilized society in certain places at certain times. And none of those will be immune to the intrusion of evil if it chooses to come knocking.
