Maryland Ammo Serialization Bill

From Pro-Gun Progressive:

Read the citizens’ reports on the testimony for MD’s proposed ammo serialization bill, HB517. You’re basically required to turn in all non compliant ammo (yeah, like that’s gonna fly) and only use the encoded, serialized stuff.

Turning in the unserialized ammunition sounds like a fine idea to me.  Be sure to check out the background on the boneheads who are trying to cajole various state governments into buying this scam.

  1. Matt Said,

I’ll turn in my ammo only if I get an equivalent amount of serialized ammo in return paid for by the State. I figure if they want to levy a tax like this, they can compensate citizens for depriving them of their legally owned property.

They’d never do it. The cost alone for all the gun owners in the State of Maryland would soar into the hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars.

I know I would probably personally cost the State somewhere in the neighborhood of $5000 to replace every single round of my ammo with serialized equivalents. I’m guessing on this but I say so on the basis that some calibers (.308, .223, .22LR) will be cheaper to do in bulk than others (7.62×54R, 6.5mm, 8mm).

I have over 10,000 rounds. Small potatoes compared to some other folks here.
