Pin of Triumph

author Posted by: Sebastian on date Feb 8th, 2008 | filed Filed under: Shooting

Here is my glorious chicken pin:

I can fairly consistently hit the chickens now with rifle. I’m up to the point with pistol where I can his 7 out of 10 on a good day. I need to work on my pistol skills more to accomplish this. I think I can get another (different colored) pin for pistol.

    Looks like a duck…

  2. Breda Said,

    That’s really cool! Congrats, Sebastian.

Are you going to have a whole collection of animals?

…and will you wear them all at the same time? (because that would be funny)

  3. TD Said,

    Congratulations!

  4. Sebastian Said,

There are only four animals. Silhouette has it’s origins in Mexico, shooting real animals. The Mexicans decided that was inhumane (or probably more accurately that it was just too messy) so they switched to metal cutouts. There are four animals.

    Gallina (Chicken)
    Javelina (Pig)
    Guajalote (Turkey)
    Borrego (Ram)

So I will only get four animals. Turkeys are the hardest. You do wear them, typically on your hat or shooting jacket. I think in addition to the 10 shot pins, there is a 40 shot pin too. I think pistol is a different pin as well, but I don’t know. I’m pretty sure we don’t run a sanctioned event, so the rules are set by the organizer.

  5. Breda Said,

I was hoping for an entire zoo - lions and tigers and bears, oh, my!

  6. kaveman Said,

Sorry but I just couldn’t help but be reminded of a scene from “Office space.”

enjoy, and good luck getting the other critters.
