Scrap Brass

author Posted by: Sebastian on date Jan 30th, 2008 | filed Filed under: Gun Care & Gunsmithing

One thing all this reloading is going to start producing eventually is a lot of scrap brass.  Does anyone have any suggestions on how to sell your old, worn out brass, to be recycled?  Is there a place you can take it?

You could probably just ask your range what they do with theirs. Even if they resell brass, it can’t all be reusable stuff.

Look in your phone book for an aluminum recycling place. Most places that buy aluminum cans will buy other metals too. Also look under scrap metal. But you’ll need to have many pounds of scrap metal to make it worth the gas you’ll burn driving to the place.

I mentioned this post to someone I work with, and it spawned a corporate blog post: http://www.pacific-recycling.com/blogs/index.php?blog=2&title=shell_casings_one_man_s_junk_another_s_t&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1

The short version is that brass worth decent money right now ( I just got a $1 per lb quote locally) so recycle it.
