I mentioned this post to someone I work with, and it spawned a corporate blog post: http://www.pacific-recycling.com/blogs/index.php?blog=2&title=shell_casings_one_man_s_junk_another_s_t&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1

The short version is that brass worth decent money right now ( I just got a $1 per lb quote locally) so recycle it.

Look in your phone book for an aluminum recycling place. Most places that buy aluminum cans will buy other metals too. Also look under scrap metal. But you'll need to have many pounds of scrap metal to make it worth the gas you'll burn driving to the place.

You could probably just ask your range what they do with theirs. Even if they resell brass, it can't all be reusable stuff.
