Things You’ll Never Read in an MSM Movie Review

A little backstory first: this is the 3rd attempt to adapt the novel I am Legend into a movie. To be candid, the first two attempts sucked. “The Last Man on Earth” and “The Omega Man” were perfect examples of Hollywood past taking a good story and raping it to death and then defecating on the corpse.
I think we’ll have to revoke his NRA membership for saying bad things about a Charlton Heston movie ;)

It’s a freakin’ short story. Only in horewood would the idiots expect to make a two hour movie from a short story. Of course this is the same place that makes movies from cartoons and video games due to the lack of an original thought in the entire industry.

But no really - I am Legend was pretty good. The gunny/survival stuff was pretty much spot on.

The new movie also fails horribly.

I would say that unlike it’s two predecessors, the new movie can at least stand on it’s own two legs. Like I said on my blog, it’s kind of like Last of the Mohicans. The movie changed a lot of the elements from the book, but it was still a good movie on it’s own.
I try to not be one of those fanboys who goes into movie adaptations of novels expecting nothing to be changed; if I did that I’d never enjoy anything. I try (and fail sometimes) to enjoy a movie for it’s own merits, and not rate based on comparisons to a novel.
