Cook County Gun Ban

author Posted by: Sebastian on date Dec 12th, 2007 | filed Filed under: Gun Rights

Cook County has introduced a bill that would effectively ban all firearms. Thirdpower has the digs. Also Armed and Safe.

Here’s the Illinois State Rifle Assocation web site, which also has details.

UPDATE: More from War on Guns

I think the problems they are seeing are due to cut and paste errors. This law exactly mirrors Chicago laws with the addition of seeming to ban handguns that lack internal trigger locks and a loaded indicator (pretty much most handguns and probably all revolvers).

My feeling is that Mayor Daley put them up to this. He’s gotta know he is next on the block after D.C. and probably wants to have all of Cook County behind him. I think it will backfire. This greatly expands the pool of available plaintiffs.
